Last weekend I was invited along to the #LightsCameraCurrys photography workshop run by Joe Blogs and Dade Freeman. I was super excited for this as just a few days before J and I went halves on a shiny new dslr (no more phone photos, yay!) so I couldn't wait to put it to the test.

The workshop was great, and after jotting down as many notes as possible, little bits of information started to sink in and good old Alevel Photography memories started to creep back in as well. I feel much more confident just experimenting with all the settings on the camera now, and can honestly say I haven't used the auto setting once.

After a few hours of scribbling, we then headed out to put our new found skills to the test. It was a beautiful day and it felt amazing to just wander around taking photos of anything that caught my eye. It's a nice reminder to take a break from taking photos because you have to... I've taken at least two dozen of Pixel over the last week just because, and it's weirdly therapeutic. Plus, you know, she's really cute.

Anyway, these are a random selection of my shots from the day. We had a challenge of certain things to capture: motion, leading lines, symmetry, framing and points of interest. All taken on manual, of course :)

Thank you again to Joe Blogs and Dade Freeman for inviting me along, I had a great day!

  1. I bought a dslr nearly a year ago and am a bit ashamed to say it's barely off auto! I could do with something like this!
