diy potato printing

i have dozens of little notebooks that are strewn around different bags/around the flat that i scribble things in whenever they come to mind. potato printing was an idea that i wrote down ages ago, and when it came round to making my sister's birthday card i decided to give it a go.

now this might not be the most sophisticated diy, but it was so much fun! my sister is obsessed with doctor who, so with the tardis in mind i started carving away. i tried to keep it pretty simple, and worked either by engraving with a pencil or lino cutter depending on the lines i wanted.
i actually made two designs- first printing the one pictured, and then carving the outside of the potato away to create another inverted image, but that didn't come out as well.
i was a bit unsure if it even looked like a tardis in the end, so couldn't resist adding a little dymo label to finish it off :)

i used to love potato printing and now i remember why- i'm definitely going to try out a few more designs like this!
